Pooler is a Banking-as-a-Service platform, which enables business, big or small, to receive and manage payments, by giving the business the ability to provide different payment channels to its customers through payment gateways, payment links, invoices. It was made to make the payment processing and settlement for businesses easier.

Pooler was initially designed and made as desktop focused webapp, and what I mean by that is, our users were going to be accessing Pooler mainly through their laptops or their tablet screens. This was a great initial solution for the product.

The dashboard was the area for the business to get an overview of how their business was doing on a day to day, from money collected to money transferred out, and even to recent transactions

Businesses were also buying airtime and data for customers in bulk or in singular purchases, this was highly requested by a major amount of businesses that were onboarded on Pooler, and we went ahead to develop this feature

The transactions page is designed to show the user an overview of their day to day transactions, allowing them to filter, and search specific transactions and their details, the problem with this on mobile was it could not be displayed as a table like on the desktop, so it needed to be redesigned, so it can be optimized for mobile view.

The cashiers module was designed for businesses who not only had multiple cashiers, but wanted to operate from different points, but be settled to a singular account. The cashier module was designed to help business owners monitor multiple points of cash inflow, and be also able to measure those points if needed

After the initial product launch, we noticed that a lot of our users wanted to access Pooler more from their mobile, and then we set out work on a mobile compatible version, and this was good for us a business as well because not a lot of payment gateway providers have their app in a mobile compatible version.

Working with constraints
Working with constraints
Working with constraints is always a good idea because it helps to keep you in line with what you are trying to do, I had some constraints as well.

Screen size and layout: The screen size needed to be taking into consideration as we had smaller spaces to work with, so we had to declutter and optimize for important information on everyscreen
Performance optimization: There was also a need for optimizing the performance so we had to reduce large graphics and unnecessary animations
Navigation: The navigation had to be worked on entirely, so the use of a hamburger menu was employed, so we could fit in everything that we already had on the desktop view.

Next steps and things I learnt on the way
Pooler turned out to be successful product to the team, taking into consideration the time and amount of resources we had at the time of building. But here are some things that I learnt:

Collaboration is key between team members, a lot times on this projects, there were conversations around things that would be feasible and not, this helped design and engineering team build faster.
Please consider a mobile version, because considering this at the beginning of your project would prepare the team for the amount of work it needs to do, putting everyone on the same page.

As for next steps, Pooler webapp is currently live, a mobile app was also developed, and is currently on the Playstore and Appstore.
